WHO I AM...

Welcome! I’m Cicely – wife, mother of two, and proud country girl through and through. Creativity is my passion, and I like to think I bring a good dose of humor to everything I do, even if my kids might roll their eyes and call me "corny." Join me on this journey where laughter, love, and a touch of country charm intersect.

Rooted in a deep understanding of human psychology, my journey began with a Bachelor's in Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill, paving the way for a Master's in Marriage and Family Counseling from Capella University. With a commitment to staying at the forefront of my field, I've immersed myself in several evidence-based treatments and modalities for a wide range of populations, from toddlers to older adults. At the heart of my practice lies a dedication to fostering healing and growth within families, offering a beacon of hope in times of struggle.

Why Dear Family...

Dear: This word conveys a sense of warmth, care, and personal connection. My services are offered with empathy, understanding, and a genuine desire to help.

Family: This concept emphasizes the importance of familial relationships and dynamics and acknowledges that family plays a significant role in shaping mental health and well-being.

Combining these elements, "Dear Family Counseling" signifies a compassionate and supportive space where individuals and families can find guidance, support, and healing for their mental health needs within the context of familial relationships.

My Experience and Mission

With over 15 years of experience in mental health, my expertise spans trauma, childhood development, parenting, mental health, and spiritual challenges. I firmly believe in the pivotal role of familial support in shaping a person's experiences.

Using a systemic approach, I guide clients on their unique journey toward personal growth and fulfillment. My philosophy revolves around harnessing and nurturing the inherent strengths within individuals and families. I am deeply committed to fostering empowerment and ensuring families feel integral to their own healing process.

Beyond client sessions, I dedicate myself to mentoring and training budding therapists as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. My passion lies in equipping the next generation with the tools and insights to make a meaningful impact in the field.

I am also a blog writer on mental health and create tools, journals, and books to reach those who need mental wellness education.
